Last week on a whim we decided to visit Bodega whilst having a night away in Birmingham. I was slightly taken a back when the waiter looked concerned we hadn’t booked. It was mid-afternoon on a Monday and there was only 3 other tables taken in the whole restaurant. However, we were shown to our table and I must say I was impressed by the extensive menu. The place is bright and inviting, decorated with large pop-art style prints on the walls and a mixture of soft and hard furnishings.
There was a large cocktail menu, but I chose to go for a trusty dry white wine. I must say though I did catch a glimpse of the margarita the girl on the table next to us was having, and it did look delicious! As for food, I opted for the black bean burrito and Adam went for pork tacos. We also had the most amazing nachos to share. I have to say Adam had major food envy over my burrito, he said the tacos were tasty but it was quite a small portion. The nachos on the other hand were incredible – The nachos themselves were so thick and had some real substance to them. They were generously topped with dollops of sour cream, guacamole and salsa.
Of course, no meal is complete without dessert. If I remember correctly, there was a choice of 6/7 puddings, and I chose the white chocolate & mojito cheesecake. It was the thickest, creamiest cheesecake I have ever eaten in my life. Adam went for churros with a caramel sauce – I’m not actually the biggest fan of churros, but my word the sauce was incredible!
Overall, a fantastic and reasonably priced meal. Where’s your favourite place for Mexican food?
